I started writing because essays were assigned. I realized I liked the task of presenting ideas in this time-tested structure, which neither secured nor inhibited my intelligence, simply described the lane that words were to follow.

As I’ve aged, and dug my way into words, the blank page is more
and more a pressure I am drawn to—-

The open-endedness of what could be written
is one of the most exciting and accessible spaces I have encountered.

So I have kept on writing, approaching the blank space with whatever it is I’ve got at the time.
